AIX Update – unable to identify boot disk

If you encounter the errormessage “unable to identify boot disk” during a bosboot do not panic.

First try to remove the /dev/ipldevice and relink it correclty:

rm /dev/ipldevice

ln /dev/rhdisk0 /dev/ipldevice

bosboot -ad /dev/ipldevice

bosboot -ad /dev/hdisk0

If this step does not help, you only can reboot the system. Before you reboot check that bootlist -m normal -o gives you the correct harddisks to boot from.
